The Wines

Higher Plane Wines | Bellibone Wines

Australian wine producers have generally embraced the notion that ‘more is better’ (more ripeness, more alcohol, more weight, more oak….) whereas at Higher Plane, we are more inclined to support the belief that ‘less is better’; with the aim to create wine with delicacy, elegance and complexity.

With the new releases of Higher Plane we have made some exciting, fundamental changes to the style and ultimate direction of our wines. Our intention is to maintain the fruit quality and yet craft wines that more clearly reflect their origin and varietal character.

To achieve this, our wine profile has shifted toward lower alcohol, more gentle, subtle fruit characters, evident acidity, and overall, a degree of ‘old world’ elegance and restraint. These structural changes provide greater opportunity for the wine to more clearly express its character, and at the same time assist in protecting it from spoilage - resulting in less winemaking intervention.

Whilst we feel strongly about our refinement of the Higher Plane style, we acknowledge the importance of a more conventional style of wine, which offers fruit generosity and immediacy. Therefore, we have decided to release a range of wines that express their fruit character and at the same time are luscious, vibrant and forward drinking. Hence the creation of our new Bellibone range.
